Download Page & Turnbull Historic Resource Assessment (PDF) We want to thank Page & Turnbull for writing a complete Historic Resource Assessment about a comparatively minor Gardner Dailey designed house in San Francisco and allowing us to use it. It is our belief that this information about Gardner Dailey and its dissemination will increase knowledge about Gardner Dailey and the Second Bay Style/Tradition. Elizabeth Milnarik, with Page & Turnbull, Inc., prepared an excellent Historic Resource Assessment for a project concerning a proposed project at 2690 Broadway in San Francisco. The house on that site was designed by Gardner Dailey which is at the top of Pacific Heights at the northeast corner of Divisadero and Broadway. Gardner Dailey designed the home at a period when the work in his office was beginning to increase in scale and scope. Moving away from residential commissions, the office was beginning to work on larger public buildings. Both the Red Cross building and the Royal Hawaiian Hotel were designed at the same time as the Schlesinger house. The description of Dailey, His Body of Work, Influences, Chronology and Source Material are a starting point to start to understand Gardner Dailey. |
